Collective Worship

At St Teresa’s, prayer and worship are central to our daily life. We provide opportunities for children’s spiritual growth and development through participation in a variety of forms of worship and prayer.

Each week children take part in Liturgical prayer as follows:

  • Whole school Liturgical Prayer
  • Chaplaincy Retreat Liturgical Prayer
  • Classroom based, Child-led Liturgical Prayer
  • Hymn practise
  • Good Work celebration

Pupils are actively involved in planning, leading and evaluating Liturgical Prayer, both as a class and in small groups. Children plan using the standard format of:  Gather – Listen – Respond – Go Forth.

With the support of our Chaplain, children will take part in a class retreat and celebrate this at the end of the session with a planned Liturgical Prayer.

The key events of the liturgical year are celebrated in many forms such as whole school Masses (in school and led in the Parish), Christmas Carol Services, Nativity performances, Lenten Liturgies including Reconciliation, feast day celebrations, Adoration, the Rosary and Stations of the Cross.
